I'd start with Agrippa's Three Books of Occult Philosophy (especially part 1, chapters 43-44), followed by the Picatrix.

Subject: [ACADEMIC-STUDY-MAGIC] olfactory divination
Hello all
I am looking for any information on "olfactory divination", or more precisely the use of the nose/smell sense/etc in ancient forms of divination/magic. I am trying to avoid research from the 20th century onward, including aromatherapy and its ilk. I am more interested in ancient uses of smell and its role in various forms of ritual and magic.
Any suggested reading, etc would be incredibly helpful.
Thanks in advance
Yours
