Hello MCG'ers,
Wondering who of you out there has been publishing books of your collection
materials? Here, at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, we are
experimenting with publishing. Normally we have 2 books we publish on a
regular basis however, we branched out this time and our digital collections
staff and conservation staff put together a reproduction of a civil war era
cook book.
This kind of book appeals a niche market of cooking enthusiasts and American
history enthusiasts. It is only available through our website at the moment,
our gift shop and soon be on Amazon.com. Here is the link:

We did a print run of 500 books and published them through Sheridan Books
Inc. So far we have sold 200 books since printing was done a couple months
ago.
We are looking for ideas of how to market this book online (other than
Amazon), how other may have generated income (that atleast covered costs),
or general advice (what did you do that went wrong)?
Right now we have stalled out and trying to collect our thoughts.
