text/plain (46 lines) , SECOND OPPORTUNITY FOR THE YGS EXCURSION IN THE SEDBERGH AREA.docx (46 lines)

To all members of YGS who have registered for e-mail communication

Greetings to all:

At the request of a geological enthusiasts' group (affiliated with the
GA) in the Clitheroe area, I have agreed to undertake a re-run of this
year's May field excursion (then as part of Yorkshire Geology Month) to
the Sedbergh area. This is an opportunity for any YGS members who
missed the earlier excursion and would like to participate (or indeed
for any who enjoyed it so much last time, despite the wet experience,
and wish to repeat).

Arrangements will be generally the same as published in the YGS Field
Trip Circular.

On Saturday 30th July, the party will meet at 13.00 hrs at the car park
for the Adam Sedgwick Trail (as detailed in the YGS Circular and in the
attached excursion summary). This will be a half-day excursion and we
should return to the cars by 17.00 hrs.

On Sunday 31st July, the party will meet at 10.30 hours in the car park
adjacent to Rawthey Bridge, as detailed in the YGS Circular and in the
attached excursion summary, for a full day excursion to the Taythes
Gill Section. We should return to the cars no later than 17.00 hrs.

Any YGS members and guests are welcome. Although not essential, it
will be helpful that you let me know your intention to attend by e-mail
([log in to unmask]) or by telephone (numbers below). For those
who are interested, please note the guidance that the Sunday excursion
includes some challenging scrambling and moorland walking.

There is every prospect that weather conditions will be significantly
better then those we experienced in May!

With kind regards
John Knight
(YGS Programme Secretary)
