Dear colleagues,
I'm pleased to announce that we have now made available a summary paper concerning the findings of research examining the travel time use of rail passengers based on latest empirical evidence gathered in 2010.
What do rail travellers do with their time on the move? How worthwhile do they consider this time to be? How do they equip themselves for using their time? Do they plan in advance of their journeys how to get the most out of their travel time? These are questions that the Centre for Transport & Society (CTS) explored through a national survey of over 20,000 rail passengers in 2004. Six years later CTS has once again been able to pose these questions in the National Passenger Survey. Its findings provide a unique insight into the experience of rail travel in Britain and how this is evolving in the face of rapid developments in information and communication technologies (ICTs). This comes at a time when the Government is consulting on its plans for multi-billion pound investment in high speed rail.

Best wishes,
Glenn
