The College of Science has available three fully-funded and up to 10 part-funded PhD opportunities for high calibre students enrolling on PhD programmes in September 2011. The studentships are open to new applicants for full-time study.
Eligibility:
• Applicants must hold an offer to study full time on a PhD in one of the above areas for September 2011
• UK/EU and International applicants are welcome to apply
• Applicants for part-funded opportunities (and all overseas applicants) must demonstrate that they can provide necessary extra funds
• Applicants must hold (or be expecting to achieve) a minimum of a 2.1 degree (or equivalent) in a related subject

• Your application must include a covering letter, CV and research proposal, which may be discussed with an identified College supervisor
• Please state clearly in your covering letter that you wish to be considered for a College of Science PhD Studentship.
Funding notes:
• Fully-funded three-year PhD Bursaries: Full UK/EU tuition fees. International students must fund the difference. A doctoral stipend matching the UK Research Council National Minimum (£13,590 for 2011/2012) is also provided for three years.
• Part-funded three-year PhD Studentships: Bursary of £5000 per annum
