Masterclass: Assessing the impact of your research
Tuesday 29th November 2011
The Cuillin Room, Charles Stewart House, University of Edinburgh
12.30pm - 5pm
Delegate fee from £75.00
http://www.crfr.ac.uk/events/masterclass.html
This half-day workshop provides an opportunity to get hands-on experience
of assessing the impact of your research. Building on an impact assessment
framework developed using contribution analysis, the masterclass will allow
you to build a case study of the impact of your research, either on a
project, programme, or research centre level. During the afternoon you will
build a contribution story for your research, assess risks and assumptions
and start
to identify useful indicators of research impact. This story could be
adapted, to report to funders, to build a planning and evaluating cycle for
knowledge exchange activities, or to fit REF requirements.
The Masterclass will be run by Sarah Morton who has ten years experience of
activities to increase the uptake of research at CRFR. She has also been
investigating the processes of research impact as part of an ESRC funded PhD
study.
This included developing and piloting a framework for assessing impact
across a range of projects. She has also assessed different potential
methods and indicators for research impact.
