L'Oréal Young Scientist Centre - Freelance Lab Technician
Salary: c. £120 per day Vacancy Type: Freelance, c. 6 month contract
An exciting 6 month freelance position in the L'Oréal Young Scientist Centre (LYSC) at the Royal Institution has become available to assist in the running of practical scientific activities for young people and the administration and maintenance of the LYSC programme.
We are inviting freelance science communicators and/or those with a practical science background to apply for this temporary position which will be paid on a day rate basis. The LYSC is a modern laboratory and breakout space that offers teachers and students the chance to ask scientific questions and to design their own creative ways to answer them. At the YSC learners can explore all aspects of science and technology - from investigating the science behind cosmetics, to using a crash test rig or analyzing DNA.
The aim is to ignite a passion for scientific discovery in both students and teachers and encourage curiosity-driven learning. It is available for school groups of up to 30 students to book for half day or full day activities. The number of days worked is flexible and may be dependent upon school bookings of the centre, and we may consider more than one applicant if required.
The successful applicant will be responsible for both the day to day technical maintenance of the laboratory and its activities and the delivery of some workshops to young visitors. Please apply with a c.v. and letter of application to [log in to unmask]
