I would like to write again to offer my heartfelt thoughts and wishes to those of you who have had such diabolical experiences and lost loved ones as a result of poor care.
My last message didn't say some of the things that perhaps it ought to have.
I said that I wanted to change the system and didn't know how, that eventually I left that system as a direct result. I see the interest that Chloe's original message brought and wonder if it's now that OH nurses should stand up and take the lead on this matter?
We've identified something that shocks and appalls us. Instead of appearing to join the ranks of those that talk and do nothing maybe it's time for us to stand up and be counted?
Chloe's Facebook page is a good starting point. Can we make this higher profile? Should we be offering to go back into the system free of charge, for a day or more and use the basic skills that we were given in the various schools and styles of our training?
Perhaps if we did this as an OH collective in the spirit of (dare I say it) 'big society' (I'm actually feeling a bit nauseous now), we would contribute, demonstrate leadership and perhaps get a much better idea of what the reality of the situation is...
What do you think? Could we make this happen?
