At the Faculty of Science of the University of Potsdam (Germany) a position as
Junior-Professor (W1) for “Computational Chemistry”
at the Institute of Chemistry is open for application. Candidates should have proof of their academic skills in the application and development of theoretical methods for the investigation of structure and dynamics of molecular systems, extending the theoretical research (nuclear and electron dynamics, photo-physics/chemistry) established at the institute. Possible fields of activity are electronic structure calculations of complex chemical and biochemical systems as well as their role in chemical reactions (employing, e.g. QM, QM/MM or ab initio molecular dynamics) or ab initio calculations of functional materials.
A cooperation with scientists at the faculty and a participation in research projects at the Potsdam University (e.g. Focus area „Functional Soft Matter“) and within the Potsdam-Berlin science community is explicitly desired.
Candidates are expected to participate in the teaching at the institute, in the field of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry, at graduate and undergraduate levels.
Applicants must have a PhD, an outstanding expertise in theoretical chemistry and a distinguished research record. Teaching experiences and an outstanding record of postdoc activities are desirable. The combined PhD and postdoc period should not have exceeded more than 6 years.
Employment will be initially for four years, with the possibility to prolong for two more years after evaluation of the achieved progress.
The University of Potsdam seeks to increase the percentage of women in research and teaching. Therefore, women are strongly encouraged to apply for this position.
Candidates with disabilities will be hired preferentially if equally qualified.
Applications have to be send to Geschäftsführenden Präsidenten der Universität Potsdam, Am Neuen Palais 10, 14469 Potsdam within 4 weeks after the official publication date of the job offer.
