Julie Richards at CPIT in Christchurch has completed her masters thesis on the topic of NZ midwives practices around cord clamping.

I am sure that Julie would be keen to talk about her research.

Subject: Timing of cord clamping - midwives' practice

Is anyone aware of any research exploring midwives' decision making about timing of umbilical cord clamping? Published, unpublished or in progress? My emphasis is more about why they do it than what they do.

Many thanks in anticipation of help!

Dear colleagues,

The EQUATOR Network initiative works to improve the quality of health research reporting, including the reporting of trials and systematic reviews (http://www.equator-network.org/).

We are organising two events in Bristol on 3rd October 2011: Seminar on reporting randomised trials and EQUATOR Annual Lecture (http://www.equator-network.org/courses-events/). These events precede the MRC conference on RCT methodology but they are independent and anyone may attend.

I would be very grateful if you could help us spread the information around and share the announcement below with your colleagues.

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

With kind regards,

Iveta Simera

Hi Angie,

I am soma from Calcutta , India, doing research on the traditional midwives

of my country last 15 year.I know that our midwives always use the method of

delayed cord clamping by their experience. As midwifery is a heredetory

profession so they know the art from their fore mother.Though they are all

most have a scanty

knowledge of education but they know the exact timing about cord cutting.I

think it is the nature who taught them the lesson of child birth.
