The largest digital collection of Irish Newspapers available anywhere in the world is now free online. Irish Newspaper Archives is running the promotion from August to November of this year in an effort to build awareness and demonstrate the improved functionality of the resource.
The free access will open up INA'a considerable archive of over 30 newspaper titles from all over the country including some of Ireland's leading titles such as the Irish Independent, Sunday Independent and Irish Farmers Journal as well as newspapers of particular historical importance including the Freeman's Journal, Irish Press and the Nation.
Spanning four centuries from the 1700's right up to today's current edition, the archive offers researchers, students and general interest users alike unparallel access to a wealth of Irish history and news.
Most of the titles in the archive have never before been open to the public in this format and INA are hoping that this will provide an opportunity for researchers to uncover more and more about the past.
Additionally INA can also provide Counter Compliant Usage Stats for the promotional period for all those who sign up allowing them to accurately gauge the level of usage.
The offer is open to public libraries as well as institutional/university libraries. To take advantage of this offer simply request access by emailing [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
