Many thanks again, Trefor.
I'm interested in whether incoming TPP to TPP record transfers are drawn to
the attention of the receiving practice by the software, or is this
something you do as an individual practice?
How are prescriptions handled? I know that a prescription started in a
different legal entity has to be re-entered by the practice if it is to be
prescribed by the practice: does this apply when the record is changed from
one practice to another - as all GP practices are regarded as one legal
entity for this purpose? or do you have to make a conscious effort to review
and re-authorise the new patient's medication? (I know your practice would)
I was under the impression - from 3 years ago - that one of the GP grumbles
about sharing records with other organisations was that if the other
organisation put something (the example quoted was a blood pressure) into
the summary, the GP practice could not take it out , conceal it or
reorganise the way the summary was displayed so that it was not cluttered up
with irrelevant entries.
Are you sharing with other non-GP organisations? If you are, have you
encountered any problems - or developed any solutions - which might help the
practices in my locality who have gone to TPP?

All incoming e-records are checked by the summarisers against the paper
record, from scratch. Any anomalies are flagged for a partner to review and
resolve. The summary is re written to match our structure and ideas of what
is major, minor, active and past. Only a minority of the records are vastly
different so the work is not too onerous.
The customisation is to do with the granularity of the record (e.g. I do not
display any admin events and other peoples day to day musings in my
journal), the basic summary and medication screens are fairly fixed across
the system. The other main features I have customised are the buttons for
short cuts, so I do not have any of the patient registration buttons on my
tool bar, but I do have ones for some of the local and QoF templates.

Trefor,
What procedures do you have for checking the quality/completeness of
incoming records when a SystmOne practice registers a patient from another
SystmOne practice, and is there any system or practice mechanism for showing
that such a record has been received?
Are all SystmOne records displayed in the way your practice records their
own records, and is the ability to customise the system to your individual
requirements applicable to the way records are displayed and processed (and
if so is this for you as an individual or does it apply to the whole
practice) and to imported as well as practice generated records?

Strangely, I am finally beginning to like SystmOne!
