This is a reminder for the post of Archives Assistant (1 year post) at HSBC Holdings plc. The deadline is Thursday 14th July.
We are looking for an assistant to help in the day-to-day running of HSBC’s Archives Management service. You will assist the archivists in a wide range of duties and provide general administrative support to the team.
The role is primarily based at the offsite archives store at Bromley-by-Bow, but the jobholder will also spend some time at the HSBC head office in Canary Wharf. The collection is due to be relocated to a new site in East London towards the end of this year and this project will be a main focus for the assistant.
Work at the offsite archives store will involve:
• re-packaging and barcoding tasks for the relocation project
• supervising the searchroom and retrieving records for researchers
• answering internal and external enquiries about the history and archives of HSBC
• accessioning and cataloguing new material
• researching and writing articles
Work at the head office will involve:
• taking part in outreach work such as our UK branch anniversary programme
• carrying out improvements to catalogue data
• providing administrative support
You will also have the opportunity to support our Art Management service; our Global Archives programme; and our Digital Archives project.
The post will start in September 2011 and last for one year. Applicants should be enthusiastic and able to work with minimal supervision. Adaptability and attention to detail are key qualities. This post is designed to suit someone looking for pre-course experience and the salary will be £20,500 pro rata.
