Hello
Please can I ask a basic question about the use of the Finite Population Correction (FPC).
Looking at Lohr's text on on this the FPC = (1-n/N)
Where N= the size of the population
and n=the size of the sample
Hypothetically, let's say I have a population of 1000 and I invite all 1000 to fill in a survey and 50% (500) respond.
In this situation, my N=1000, but for the purposes of calculating the FPC is the sample (n) defined as the number I invited (n=1000) or the number who responded (n=500)?
I have done various searches on this but I am still unclear as to the correct definition of the sample (n) in this instance. Advice and references on this would be welcomed.
Thanks
Michael
