I like the Dilnot proposal that local authorities should lend money
against the value of property (a sort of socialed 'equity release' -
but I hope they offer better terms than the private sector does!).
This part of Dilnot seems to have been overlooked by the BBC.

I read that "The typical 55- to 64-year-old in the UK has a total
wealth of £200,000".
Can anyone put legs on this for me please? (mean, median, source?)
IMHO 'typical' can only mean 'median'. Even then we need deciles and quartiles.
