I totally get it that nurses are fighting a losing battle on some wards. It was that way when I was doing
my training 20 years ago. Sometimes the nurse is the 'nearest kickable face' for worried and anxious patients
and relatives.
The letter I received back from the hospital following my complaint acknowledged that there were serious staffing shortages on the ward. I thought that was a very significant thing for them to put in writing, and I remain hopeful that, when this is looked at during audit, consideration might be given to improving the staffing levels and training. It's there in black and white now.
