Apologies for cross-posting
Several universities in the East Midlands are currently looking to collaboratively create a series of online tutorials aimed at researchers. At this point, we have produced 4 pilot units on disseminating your research, using open source software called Xerte. The aim of the project is to make these tutorials available to other institutions to re-use and re-purpose to make them relevant to their own situation.
We have since been getting some feedback through focus groups on the content and design of these tutorials. Feedback on the design has prompted us to consider whether the way we are presenting the tutorials is, in fact, the correct way, as we don't know how other institutions would want to re-use the tutorials. So, before we produce any further content we would be grateful for your feedback on the following questions:
1. Would you want to use the tutorials in their existing format in Xerte (or equivalent) but simply amend the content to suit your own information, ie. you want the tutorial as a finished product in the software that we have chosen but with the option to amend. You could describe this as using it 'off the peg'.
Or
2. Would you want to use the content of the tutorial but put it into software that you usually use, e.g. this may be a VLE, webpage or some other type of software. This means that we would simply produce a webpage with the content of the tutorial; you could copy and paste text and/or download our multimedia content and then re-use these to create your own tutorial in the software of your choice.
If you could get any feedback to us by Friday 15th we would be very grateful as this will help us develop the next stage of this project.
If you need any further information about the project please do not hesitate to contact me.
