Position vacant: Database Programmer/Data Warehouse Manager/ Statistical Programmer in R
Medical Research Institute, University of Dundee
The Diabetes Epidemiology group at the Medical Research Institute, University of Dundee is seeking a person with good programming skills and a knowledge of the R statistical programming environment to work with a team of statisticians analysing data extracted from several large clinical and routine health care datasets.
The appointee will work to import these large datasets into a database, process the data to a state ready for statistical analysis using packages such as R, SAS and STATA, make the data available for analysis to the statisticians and work with the statisticians to ensure dataflow and data version control are adequately documented and that data analysis code and functions common to different projects are organised in shared libraries.
The appointee will have experience in setting up and maintaining a relational database, experience of using R statistical programming language and experience with working within a Linux environment .
A degree in a related discipline such as computer science, mathematics or statistics would be advantageous.
Salary Range: Grade 6 spine pt 32 (£31,798 up to Grade 7 spine pt 36 (£35,788)
Duration of post: One year in the first instance
