As part of a £1.2 million project funded by the Research Councils UK Energy Programme, we are currently seeking to make two Researcher appointments, one at the University of Brighton and one at Lancaster University. The posts relate to the project, entitled ‘Disruption’, which seeks to use in-depth qualitative study of disruptions to everyday travel practices to better understand the kinds of socio-spatial changes needed to drive transitions to lower carbon business and personal travel. The researchers will be involved in designing, executing and disseminating ethnographic analysis. The focus of ethnography will be on the everyday travel practices of families in Brighton and the way these practices change during times of broadly defined ‘disruption’ (e.g. snowfall, car breakdown or family illness). Experience of conducting ethnographic data collection and knowledge of social science debates on mobilities is therefore essential.
Further details of the posts are available on the websites of the University of Brighton (http://www.brighton.ac.uk/personnel/jobs.html) and Lancaster University (https://hr-jobs.lancs.ac.uk). Informal enquiries can be made about the post at Brighton by contacting Lesley Murray ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) and in relation to the post at Lancaster by contacting James Faulconbridge ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>)
The closing date for applications for both posts is August 22nd.
