This varies with different data as this routine simply shows the scans
in the orientation that they are saved in the file. For example, if
the scans are saved in a saggital orientation, then slices will show
this and the idea of left and right becomes a bit meaningless in a
single slice. The best way to identify left and right is to look at
the x coordinates at different points. On the left, the x coordinates
should usually be lower than the values on the right.
In reality though, scans could be rotated by 180 degrees, which can
reverse left and right. For example, if the subject is placed face
down in the scanner, left-right will be reversed - but so will
anterior-posterior. This should not normally be an issue for
(correctly) spatially normalised data though.
