Postdoc in MRI physics at the Institute of Neuroscience, Newcastle
University
We seek to appoint a postdoctoral worker with MRI physics experience to join
the MRI group at the institute of Neuroscience at Newcastle University. The
group has funding from the Wellcome Trust to carry out an upgrade of their
4.7 T upright scanner to parallel imaging capability. The facility will be
used for structural imaging, diffusion imaging and BOLD imaging applied to a
number of biological projects. The upgrade will create one of the few
facilities of this type in the world and allow further technical and
biological breakthroughs (see reference for an example).
The worker would liase with the physics group of Andrew Blamire at the
Newcastle MR Centre and with Li Sun at the Institute of Neuroscience. (S)he
would also work closely with neuroscientists T Griffiths, Christopher
Petkov, Alex Thiele and Adrian Rees. The post is funded for three years to
play a key role in the planned upgrade of the scanner in Autumn 2011 and
subsequently in technical developments including design and implementation
of parallel coil technology, RF pulse optimisation and advanced sequence
methodology for MRI and MRS applications. We expect the appointee to
interact with the biological groups using the facility and anticipate the
work to result in methodological and biological publications.
Those interested in applying should send an e mail and cv to
