Hi All
I’m helping a group of postgraduate biologists at the University of Nottingham to organise a careers conference on 27 June, and I’m hoping you can help. We decided to do this after surveying postgrads and postdocs and finding that many either weren’t sure what they wanted to do in the future or had ideas but didn’t know how to get there. We are inviting a range of speakers working in different fields who have come from biology research backgrounds. The plan is for each to give a short talk about what their career is and how they got there, followed by plenty of time for questions and discussions. It is hoped that this will help biologists to realise that there are many different options available and to give an opportunity for networking.
We have representatives from university and industrial research, business, teaching, charity and government (Defra), but would really like to invite one or two people who work in science communication and/or public engagement. I’m sure loads of you fit this bill, but I also realise that it’s fairly short notice. If you think you might be interested in helping with this event, or have any recommendations, I’d be really grateful to hear from you. I can be contacted off-list at [log in to unmask]
Thanks very much for your help!
Best wishes
Sarah
