Pirbright, Surrey, c.£43-c.£47k
Full details and to apply - http://bit.ly/jCZkOq
As a world-leading research centre of excellence, the Institute for Animal Health (IAH) operates at the forefront of livestock disease research. It's an organisation that is changing at a remarkable pace.
IAH receives strategic funding from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC).
IAH's new state-of-the-art £100m+ Pirbright Laboratory and high-containment facility is just one project currently making the headlines.
As IAH's Head of Communications, you will go out of your way to tell the institute's story, delivering enduring messages that will get people talking. Devising and implementing a dynamic science-driven communications strategy, it will be your responsibility to keep the research community, key IAH stakeholders and, of course, the media up-to-date with all the institute's latest activities. It will mean responsibility for everything from corporate communications, media relations and internal communication, to IAH printed publications, digital communications and public engagement programmes. This position will require you to organise resources and manage and encourage input from colleagues.
The position calls for a talented communications professional, with a background in marketing, public relations or journalism. Someone with a reputation for delivering high quality corporate communications, excellent writing skills, and an instinctive feeling for their audience, the media, and tactical channel selection. A degree qualification in biological or allied subject would also be an advantage, as would experience of public engagement.
The successful candidate will work closely with BBSRC's External Relations team.
Great rewards and opportunities are available for the right candidate.
