We have a few places left at Open Source Junction 2: context-aware mobile
technologies. It is just one week away in Oxford Wolfson College, and
a few discounts may be left.

I'll take the Tekla and an Android phone, so anyone who is interested
in playing with switch access to e-books etc. do introduce yourselves.

The great mix of industry and academic speakers provide an exciting
programme packed with new case studies and increased opportunities for
collaboration in the context-aware mobile space.

Open Source Junction 2: context-aware mobile technologies

Tuesday, 5 July 2011 at 9:30 PM - Wednesday, 6 July , 2011 at 4:30 PM (GMT)

Venue: Wolfson College, Linton Road, OX26UD Oxford

OSS Watch in collaboration with 100% Open have put together Open
Source Junction - an exciting series of events connecting industry and
academic innovation in open source mobile technologies. Open Source
Junction brings together the best business and academic minds to
explore how the two sectors can jointly innovate and exploit open
source mobile technologies.

The second event in the series focuses on context-aware mobile
technologies. In computer science context-awareness refers to the idea
that computers can both sense and react based on their environment.
Context includes location (the users' absolute or relative position,
surrounding resources, physical conditions, such as noise or light
levels), but is often understood as a broader process involving users
themselves (their habits or emotional states, patterns of social
interaction, types of activity etc.)

This two-day workshop will showcase a selection of successful
context-aware mobile projects, and will provide delegates with key
knowledge of open innovation and open development, which will help
them build sustainable industry-academia partnerships in this field.

Benefits of attending:

Become familiar with the main issues concerning open innovation in software
Learn about open source business models, community building, IPR,
processes and tools
Find out about successful open source context-aware mobile projects
Understand the benefits of joining an industry-academia open
source mobile community
Explore partnership opportunities with past and present OSJ attendees

Target audience:

R&D managers, senior strategists, software developers in the mobile industry
Principal Investigators, research staff, project managers in
Higher Education and Research
Funding bodies with an interest in context-aware mobile technologies

The event will take place at Wolfson College in Oxford. Lunch and
refreshments will be provided. A number of accommodation options are
available for individual booking.
