Follow the water: insights into the hydrology of planetary bodies
Darren Mark, Tim Tomkinson, Martin Lee, Paula Lindgren
Meteorites that come to Earth from asteroidal parent bodies and Mars contain direct evidence for the former existence of liquid water. This evidence is preserved as minerals including silicates, sulphates, carbonates and halides that crystallized from aqueous fluids within subsurface environments. These meteorites therefore provide the opportunity to directly investigate the origin, composition, timing and movement of extraterrestrial fluids. We invite contributions that utilize petrographical, elemental, isotopic and chronological data to advance knowledge of non-terrestrial fluid-rock interaction.
