We have observed no loose ones due to flood scour. These would long since have been washed away. This area is subject to periodic flooding to a depth of 15' in most winters and is nearly totally exposed during the summers. We have observed one stone that was washed downstream and it weighs tons.
The feathers and wedges left in the rocks are the tops where failure to split left them as driven.

It is within a park and is protected from all but the idiots with cans of spray paint. If you google Belle Isle, Richmond, VA the photos show the area we're working in between the south edge of Belle Isle and the south edge of the James River and west of the bridge that angles from SSW to NNE which is in turn just west of the Rt. 1 Lee Bridge that is more or less north-south.
