Dear Colleagues,
I have been contacted by Dr John Canning, Treasurer and Director of the
General Practitioners Defence Fund (GPDF) which is an institution set up in
1911 following Lloyd George's National Insurance Act. It is a limited
company and exists to promote general practice. It operates within the
framework of the British Medical Association but is not part of it.
The GPDF is looking for a historian who would write its history. It's not
looking for a date by date history but a critical history - by all accounts
it has had some colourful clashes with the institional medical bodies. Most
of the Fund's archives are in BMA House in London.
If you are interested in such a project, please contact Dr Canning directly
to discuss the project and the financial aspects.
