June Brings You Some of Our Users' Favourite Courses - which one will you
choose?
Our User Panel meets again in mid-June. They are our critical friends drawn
from those of you who have said they want to have an input in to the design
of Creating Capacity's programme and the content of individual courses. The
evaluation forms we ask course participants to fill in also help us to
ensure the courses we provide meet your needs. So sessions we have coming
up in June include some of those which you and your colleagues have said are
essential for the current workplace and should be continued. Others are
brand new, but we've been told are welcome additions. So dig in and make
the most of this exciting programme.
It could be that you need training on:
· Structuring & managing a volunteer programme: an
essential introduction to policy and practice is on 8 June. You'll be in
safe hands with expert in the field Mark Restall
· Building your digital toolkit: practical low-cost
strategies for being effective on-line on 13 June with Sinead Mac Manus - a
genius at guiding people calmly through the digital maze to find the right
solution for their organisation and their users
· The power of evaluation: guidance on tools and
techniques to assess success. On 14 June Anita van Mil will bring you an
interactive, practical session to give you the evidence you need to
demonstrate the value you are providing to users, to communities and to
society.
· Hazards in collections: guidance on how to identify,
isolate, handle and store them will be given in true Creating Capacity style
by Robert Child. If you handle historic collections - this course is for
you. It's on 20 June.
· Qualitative research: a practical guide to techniques
that work is brought to you by Henrietta Hopkins. Using tried and tested
methodologies and heaps of case studies and exercises, this session on 23
June will demystify qualitative research so that you get the answers you
need to improve your service - at no or little cost.
· Working with teenagers: a practical session on the
needs and expectations of young people is on 27 June. Run by Anne Harding,
Creating Capacity's specialist in provision for children and young people
will boost your confidence, and give you the tools you need to know you are
providing an effective service for this hard to reach group.
· Understanding online audiences: a practical guide to
gathering meaningful information - giving you the how, when and why of using
online data gathering. We're pleased Martin Bazley, Vice-Chair of the
Digital Learning Network is able to design and run this ideal course for
Creating Capacity users on 28 June.
· Archival collections: how to collect, work with, and
manage the archives in your care is being brought back to Creating Capacity
by popular demand. Come and enjoy Elizabeth Oxborrow-Cowan's relaxed
learning environment and benefit from her extensive experience on 30 June.
Courses cost either £145 or £155, just click on the link to check and find
out the venue. Don't forget you can book and pay for all the courses
online. You can also pay by credit / debit card over the 'phone if that's
easier for you. We're also delighted that Renaissance London is again
supporting the programme so that a number of free course places are
available for every training session.
Interested but can't spare the time from your organisation training? Then
consider our tailored in-house package as a low-cost alternative. Normally
any of our public programmes can be tailored to your own situation - just
let us know.
Kind regards,
Lucy Auger
