Dear All,
Here is a summary of the responses to the enquiry:
What handling charges are added to the price of books that students don’t return to cover staff time in processing invoices and how does your finance department deal with the VAT element in this?
Here are the collected edited answers.
* We charge £5 admin fee for all invoices we have to process.
* We charge a £4.99 admin fee which is broken up £4.16 plus 83p VAT.
* We charge £10 admin - no idea about the VAT.
* We charge £2 handling charge for 'fine invoices' more than £2.00 if the debt has not been cleared within 4 weeks.
* We charge £5 per book for invoicing any item not returned within 2 weeks of a reminder being sent after student withdraws, or a book is 2 months overdue, and for high demand collection reserved items the user has 1 week to return before the invoice is raised. Charges are non-refundable on return of books, with the exception of a medical certificate covering all dates or a letter from the user's school.
* We charge £10 for invoicing a lost, stolen, damaged or very overdue book. This was recently increased from £5 after costing staff time spent processing unreturned books. We itemise VAT separately on the invoice.
Thank you very much.
