Dear All,
Here at Newcastle University we are planning on making SED our default requesting option for article requests and are interested to know if others have done this, what if any problems have arisen and whether you have met with resistance from readers.
Our campus clusters all have the relevant Fileopen plug-in downloaded, however students and staff using their own computers or departmental machines won't necessarily have it. Our concerns are about getting the information over to readers before submitting requests. We would be interested to know how you went about educating your readers before you made the changes.
Although we already offer SED to our on-line requesters we still find that they have not tried the "test document" before submitting their request even though our template tells them to do so.
We also have quite a lot of readers using paper forms, so again would be interested to know what you found was the best way to inform them that they need to download the test document, to ensure that there will not be a problem when they receive the link from BL.
Any help or advice would be greatly received. Please send replies to me rather than to list.
Many thanks,
Sheila
