Hello
We are reviewing the in-house produced database guides which we provide for our users and would be interested in finding out what others are doing in this area.
We currently produce our own database guides to a template so they are uniform in appearance and these are made available as PDF documents that we can link to and can be printed if desired but they are quite onerous to produce and maintain.
For clarity, I am specifically interested in guides written to help users use a particular database or set of databases (rather than subject guides). If possible I would be grateful if you could answer the following questions:
Do you produce your own database guides?
If yes:
* What format do you provide/deliver them? (Example Word, PDF, webpage).
* What do you use these guides for? (Example supporting enquiry desk work, inductions, info literacy training).
* What do you think are the advantages of producing your own guides?
* What do you think are the disadvantages of producing your own guides?
If no:
* Do you link/use supplier produced guides or encourage users to use the online help that is an integral part of most platforms?
Any other comments?
If you would prefer, you can fill in your responses via a Google form at

Any responses would be gratefully received and I will summarise for the list if I get enough responses.
Many thanks
