Keep safe!
Is your house above flood level?
Where are you? I hadn't heard about bad floods in Australia - so probably
the TV crews couldn't/didn't arrive in time!

PS I thought rain + forest = mosquitos! ;->

Severe weather warnings and evacuations all around me. I have seen some
scary stuff, our usually dry storm drain now has 4 feet of swirling angry
flood water rushing through, which could easily carry human off if one were
to get in it's path,
Our drive washed away, it's about half a km long, and we live in a beautiful
rainforest, but, in my naivety I had no clue that rain + forest equals large
amounts of mud and branches. The pacific highway is cut off and there is no
way, even with 4x4 that I can get the kids to school. Even though it's only
about 2 kms up the road. It would be crazy to go out, and folk that do
obviously want the drama of being rescued by the emergency services, to give
them something to put on Facebook or to give them one interesting story to
tell down the pub.
I am staying put, I have water, (fresh drinking) tons of food, firewood, tea
coffee and a powerful generator for when the electric finally drops out. Ho
hum what a night, the storms at night are spectacular, we saw a tree struck
by lightening, amazing, better than a firework show. One lightening show
lasted a full 4 minutes, and made the night turn to day, such was the effect
of the lightening lighting it all up what a night, I have never lived in an
actual disaster area before. Evacuations going on all around us!
Can't wait for the weekend when it's forecasted to clear up!
