There used to be considerable resistance to suggestions that research
into the amount of use (if any) of personal data stored within systems
taking place as a means of justifying retention, or justifying
destruction. (Research information would often be reasonably simply
collectable from audit trails) It rather seemed people were happier
increasing retention periods for data without any research, but
strongly resisted using scientific research to inform the wider issues
within retention or destruction debates.
Is anybody aware of any
recent research similar to the above elsewhere?
