I think this is why the new Super-University is so important. Plainly all we have to do is wait until this stellar institution opens; the uberprofesariat will doubtless immediately turn their formidable collective intellect to the problem of how the market can be used to stop this appalling rate of suicides... it should only take them about five minutes.
Or, alternatively, we could wait for the 'Juggernaut' to come out and explain to us why this 'special moment' in history involves destroying the lives of so many people, all so that a tiny bunch of predominantly white, predominantly male sociopaths can end up owning the planet.
I wonder if the last thought that passed through the minds of those farmers before they swallowed weedkiller or hung themselves from the branch of a tree was "Blimey, isn't it amazing how "Living standards advanced so rapidly and across so many countries over the last decade that it is difficult to think of parallels", what a shame it is that I won't be around to "explore the rise of developing countries and how they will reshape the economic landscape...."
Probably not, would be my guess.
