'£400 for 6 ground gas monitoring spot visits over a large site - total price' ouch
they must live opposite the site! hopefully just a typo? if not they wont be in work for long.... perhaps they are are keeping the price down by stealing diesel and using a GA45? and be on minimum wage..... or making up results!
Back to supervision - yes that what the BS says for 'geotechnical' but the main fear I have is for contamination assessments. Its so easy to make a complete hash of sampling in window sampling and cable percussive - hence we insist on full time supervision.
To be honest I prefer trial pits for contamination assessments but not always possible - got to be full time supervision as well (obviously!)
Just thinking of GA45's (trusty old dog of a gas monitor) - I've got one down stairs in the office - any use to any uni's etc wanting a unit for demonstration? Obviously out of calibration (stopped being serviced ages ago) but may be good for a final year project or something? free if anyone wants it?
