start ups or established companies alike have a duty to offer a decent level of service and your clients will no doubt be expecting that level of service; there are too many instances of construction being stopped by encountering some structure that was documented on old maps, Kelly's directories or whatever - you ought to be aware of the requirements of both new and long standing documents that cover the area of desk studies.
You should look at the scope of information provided by organisations such as Landmark and Groundsure as well as the requirements of CLR 3, BS10175 and the like.
