Call for Submissions: Birmingham Journal for Europe
The editorial board of the Birmingham Journal for Europe invites submissions from research students for its third volume, entitled Europe on the Move.
The Birmingham Journal for Europe is an online peer-reviewed publication published in conjunction with the Graduate Centre for Europe’s Annual Conference at the University of Birmingham. It serves as a scholarly forum which provides postgraduates working on Europe-related topics the opportunity to present the findings of their research, and make these findings available to the wider academic community.
Europe has always been a continent in flux. Its shifting political, cultural, economic and social fortunes have been, and remain, a function both of its own peculiarities and of changes imposed upon it by its relationship with the outside world. This process of perpetual transition has characterised Europe's development for centuries.
This volume explores the concept of change and continuity in Europe from a wide variety of perspectives, encompassing the historical, current and future development of its structures, practices, and multiple identities.
We welcome articles from any discipline in the Arts, Humanities, Law, Social Sciences on the subject of Europe on the Move.
Possible topics might include (but are not limited to):
- Migrations from, to, and within Europe
- Transnational movements and cultural transfers
- Transformations of Europe’s identity and political structures
- Europe in relation to the outside world
Submissions should be 6,000 words in length, accompanied by an abstract of 250 words and should also include the title of the proposed article, the name of the author, institutional and departmental affiliation, and current contact information.
Submitted papers will be reviewed by academics in relevant disciplines at the University of Birmingham in order to maintain a high academic standard. We aim to provide feedback to both successful and unsuccessful submissions.
Please send all submissions to: [log in to unmask] by 31st August 2011.
