Dear colleagues and friends,
I have just seen the current issue of Nature which includes a news item
about a plan by the Hungarian Government to take over the Natural History
Museum in Budapest and turn it over to a new university to train the
police.
The newspiece headlines are:
Hungarian natural history under threat
Historical collections given marching orders as government plans military
university at museum site.
The reference is:
Nature 474, 139 (2011) | doi:10.1038/474139a

The Vacs mummies at the museum are some of the best naturally-preserved
human remains in the world. I think it would be a tragedy if the current
plans are allowed to proceed.
Can the ancient DNA world get a campaign going to support the Anthropology
Department at the Museum!
