Dear Allstat,
The Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) is the leading national organisation researching tropical marine ecosystems. The Institute has world-class laboratory facilities in Townsville Queensland, Perth Western Australia and Darwin Northern Territory, two modern research vessels and extensive technical support. Facilities are being enhanced with $55M of capital funds from the Australian Government. This will include a state-of-the-art experimental ocean simulator in an extensive seawater precinct to support innovative research into coral spawning, water quality and climate change.
The Queensland University of Technology (QUT) Collaborative Centre for Data Analysis, Modelling and Computation is one of Australia's leading centres in applied mathematics and statistics. The Centre's Bayesian Research and Applications Group has active cross-disciplinary projects in environmental and ecological research.
AIMS and QUT have developed a new multidisciplinary project to undertake innovative research into the development and application of statistical methods to better understand patterns and processes in tropical marine biodiversity. We are seeking an early career researcher to undertake a postdoctoral fellowship in this field.
The postdoctoral fellow will be located at the Townsville AIMS research facility with provision for the appointee to undertake residency placements at QUT. High achieving applicants with postdoctoral experience in directly relevant research and a sound knowledge of statistics or quantitative ecology are encouraged to apply. This is a three year position with generous working conditions including a commencing salary of AU$73,714 - AU$81,091 plus superannuation and other benefits. The postdoctoral fellow will work with a PhD student who will be based at the QUT Brisbane campus.
Application information is available from www.aims.gov.au/employment<http://www.aims.gov.au/employment>. Position enquiries may be directed to Dr Julian Caley; [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
