We are seeking to appoint a talented and able epidemiologist / medical
statistician to contribute to a research project using data from the Avon
Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC). The person appointed
will join a team investigating the determinants of variation in maternal
pregnancy vitamin D levels and the consequence of these to a wide-range of
health outcomes in their offspring. The post holder will conduct literature
reviews, complete statistical analyses and contribute to writing papers for
journal publication. Analytical approaches will include multilevel models
for dealing with repeat measurements or clustered data and multivariable
regression models. The post-holder will also have the opportunity to
present research findings and conferences.
The appointment will be full-time on Grade I or J (research
assistant/associate), depending on qualifications and level of experience,
and is offered for 18 months. While funding for this post is available for
18-months (depending on starting August 2011), there may be opportunities
for outstanding candidates to continue working in the Department beyond
this time. The post is ideally suited to someone with an MSc / PhD in
epidemiology or medical statistics.
