Ho Rob,
There are some guidelines due out in July that should make clear what the expectations are for E&D in the REF, including guidelines on preparing an E&D section for the REF Code of Practice. This will include guidelines on taking account of mitigating circumstances when determining who to submit, as well a guidelines on carrying out an Impact Assessment of the process. This should help to frame what needs to be covered in training for those involved (there's likely to be a requirement for everyone who is involved in the selection process to have some training). Also, I believe ECU are planning to publish some Case Studies on their web site giving examples of the types of mitigating circumstance that might be encountered which will help to prepare the training and make it relevant to the audience. I'm sure ECU will alert us all when these are published.

Subject: Research Excellence Framework (REF)
Dear all
I have been asked to provide Equality & Diversity related training and guidance for our University's REF Strategy Group and others involved in the REF process, eg in Faculties.
Please does anyone have any experience of this or a suggested approach?
Any information would be most welcome!
