A potential problem with the gantry machine that I've experienced here
is that the shorter radiographers can often just push it up to the
height that is marginally outside of my line of sight but just low
enough for it to really hurt when I hit my head on it.

Subject: Re: Gantry vs Mobile
Things may have moved on, but when we did a rebuild about 10 years ago
we went for a gantry in resus. The reason behind this was that the
quality of films was better than with a mobile machine. I'm not sure
what the greater scope that can be done with mobile machines is: our
gantry gives us the same scope as in the department x-ray room (i.e.
most plain films but not things like OPGs). Also not sure about the
portable machine being easier to use: our gantry seems remarkably easy
to use (and because most stuff is high up, it takes up less floor space)
