Dear Colleagues:
Please consider submitting an abstract and attending session T42 at the AGU Fall Meeting in San Francisco,
5-9 December 2011:
Title: "Reconciling Direct and Indirect Constraints on Flow of Continental Lower Crust"
Professor Leigh "Wiki" Royden (MIT) will deliver the keynote address.
Session Description:
Provocative new data on the rheological evolution of continental lower crust have been provided by observations of orogenic plateaus and other tectonic systems over the last five years. Discussion by emerging and leading scientists will be framed by talks from two complimentary perspectives: one concerning "direct" field-based evidence from exhumed sections of continental lower crust, and the other focused on "indirect" or remotely-based observations and modeling. Contributions from all pertinent fields are encouraged, including: structural geology/petrology, geochemistry, geochronology, seismic reflection profiling, seismic tomography, experimental rock deformation, geodynamic modeling, xenoliths, geodesy, magnetotelluring imaging, etc.
We look forward to your participation!
With sincerest regards from the conveners,
Gregory Dumond, University of Arkansas ([log in to unmask])
Kevin H. Mahan, University of Colorado ([log in to unmask])
Christopher L. Andronicos, Cornell University ([log in to unmask])
