The Catholic Communications Network announced on 25 May that architectural historian Sophie Andreae has been made a Dame of St Gregory by Pope Benedict XVI, in recognition of her voluntary work over many years as Vice Chair of the Patrimony Committee of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales (a committee which oversees library and archive issues, as well as the built heritage and artefacts).
The award was made at the Historic Churches Committees’ Conference, hosted at Brentwood Cathedral by the Chair of the Patrimony Committee, the Rt Rev Thomas McMahon, Bishop of Brentwood. As President of RAG, I have sent our collective congratulations to Sophie on this great honour.
