Now available for pre-order, prior to its publication in the New Year, is THE MAKING OF THE EAST LONDON MOSQUE, 1910–1951: MINUTES OF THE LONDON MOSQUE FUND AND EAST LONDON MOSQUE TRUST LTD, edited by Professor Humayun Ansari (Royal Holloway, University of London). It marks the centenary of the mosque's beginnings in 1910.
The volume will be published in hardback by Cambridge University Press on behalf of the Royal Historical Society, being No. 38 in the Society’s Camden Fifth Series. The ISBN is 9781107014923. The provisional retail price is £45.00, but the book can be obtained more cheaply than this by individual Fellows of or institutional subscribers to the Society.
This critical edition of the minutes is complemented by three appendices containing: information about key individuals mentioned in the minutes; articles of association of the East London Mosque Trust Limited, 1948; and selected documents relating to the East London Mosque, the Jamiat-ul-Muslimin, and related developments in the late 1930s and early 1940s.
