Dear Elizabeth and list
If anyone else who can't make the meeting in June has further suggestions for how best to include people who might like to participate in the discussion group but aren't London based, please do send them along. None of the 'organisers' live in London either, so this is certainly something we've discussed - but we felt we had to start somewhere, and knew that there were sufficient professionals within striking distance of London to at least make an initial face to face meeting viable. But we wouldn't want geography to be a barrier to participation!

Although archive and RIM communities have lots of organised events it is from informal discussions that new ideas and learning can be built. In my own research, with the Continued Communication group, it is the ongoing regular discussions we have which have provided a lot of the value for participants. We have identified gaps in our professional knowledge where key literature has not filtered through to general publications such as the RM bulletin.

There were so many postings about Peter's Rain service it made me feel we were really all desperate for an actual discussion to contribute to!
