Research Assistant - Performing Documents: modelling creative and
curatorial engagements with live art and performance archives (Part-time)

You will play a crucial role in a complex project involving both academic
and creative-industry partners. Contributing to the research into, and
development of, innovative approaches to the creative re-use and engagement
with performance archives, working across disciplinary boundaries between
performance studies, practices and archives. You will have key
responsibility for communicating and liaising between the various project
partners, including artist-consultants, as well as documenting and helping
to organize the workshops, exhibition, conference and symposia.
You will have experience of working with performance or live artists and of
working across both academic and creative-industry contexts. You will
possess a relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional
practice, an excellent knowledge of performance and/or Live Art as well as
an in-depth knowledge of the artistic and scholarly issues related to the
documentation of performance events. In addition to having excellent
interpersonal skills which will enable you to work closely and liaise with
a wide range of people, you must be able to work on your own initiative. A
working knowledge of archives and archival standards, together with an
awareness of cataloguing, conservation and preservation methods and
standards would be an advantage.
This post is offered on a fixed-term contract: 1 September 2011 to 31
December 2013. Hours are flexible 0.47 fte (16.5 hours per week for first
10 months), then flexible 0.4 fte (14 hours per week) for remainder of
fixed term.
Grade : Level a in Pathway 2
Salary : £29,972 pro rata
