Hi everyone,
Further to Andy Tedd’s email below, Claire Wardle from the BBC College of Journalism has been in touch to stress that they are very keen for academics to respond with wishlist research topics/questions on journalism and social media. As detailed on their website:
“There are two ways you can get involved:
1) You can contribute your ideas directly underneath the various blog post (http://www.bbc.co.uk/journalism/bbcsms/), or
2) You can participate in the open conference via Twitter on Friday 20 May by contributing to the discussion curated under the #bbcsms hashtag.
We look forward to hearing your ideas and working together to chart the future of journalism research in the field of social media.”
If you would prefer to email me your suggestions, I would be happy to pass them on to Claire and the BBC CoJo team.
All the best,
Einar

Subject: [MECCSA] BBC College of Journalism Social Media Summit #bbcsms
Dear MeCCSA
BBC CoJo is running a social media summit on 20th May (Friday this week).
One of the aims of the conference is to promote research links between media organisations and academics researching social media.
Here is the webpage for the summit:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/journalism/bbcsms/
Here are a couple of blog posts (one of which is mine) outlining existing projects and suggesting possible ideas for more:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/journalism/blog/2011/05/bbcsms-is-trying-to-encourage.shtml
If you are persuing research in this area, or are looking for a media organisation to collaborate with, or just have something you want to add please let us know via the comments.
The event can be followed live via the website or twitter #bbcsms. We welcome your contribution!
Cheers
