The InForm Conference nears (and please don’t forget to register!), with the aim of bringing together international foundation programme professionals in a forum for the sharing of ideas, expertise, experience and research.
It therefore seems timely to consider this idea of an IFP community. The original idea that launched the InForm journal four years ago was that although there is no single programme structure common to the diverse IFPs found in the UK, they all share the goal of preparing international students for university study.
I would like to encourage members of this group to answer the questions below, either on the discussion board, or directly to my email. I will try to compile answers with a view to sharing the findings with the InForm readership. Please feel free to add your own questions to the list.
1. Do you feel part of an IFP community beyond your own institution?
2. What value to staff/educators can/could an IFP community provide?
3. How much interaction is there/should there be between English language tutors and subject tutors on IFPs?
4. Do you think that most IFPs share a common goal?
Thanks. I look forward to your input.
