Location: Chelmsford, Essex
Salary: circa £25,000 - £32,000 pa dependant on experience. Plus excellent benefits

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Cable Route Engineer to join us in order to support a multi-disciplined organisation by providing specialised GIS and geographical data analysis.

Purpose:
To work with marine survey data and using a corporate GIS, to design cable routes which mitigate risks and to also decide how to best ensure the cable system’s security. To produce technical studies which quantify potential risks to future submarine cable systems and commissioning / managing marine cable route surveys for submarine cable projects.
Duties:
• Generation of cable route position lists and straight line diagrams
• Provision of cost estimates for desk study and survey related activities
• Technical and commercial review of contractual risks related to survey operations or burial
• Preparation of Desk Top Studies
• Undertake visits to landing sites
• Preparation and Management of GIS databases of desk top studies and land falls
• Preparation of hydrographic survey specifications
• Review of marine survey tenders, procedures and reports
Experience / Qualifications:
Required
• Experience of using GIS (Intergraph GeoMedia) software or equivalent
• Ability to learn new skills and a keenness to develop
• Computer literate, with experience of technical software programmes
• An attention to detail and a logical approach
Ideal
• Hydrographic surveying experience
• Experience in route engineering, marine survey management and/or marine cable work
• Experience of customer liaison with route investigations and studies
• Commercial experience of preparing/managing survey related budgets and contracts
• Offshore marine cable operations experience
Training a development will be provided to help those who show potential to fulfil the role.
